VECTIS

VECTIS

VECTIS is a suite of tools covering all phases of the 3D CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulation workflow from geometry preparation through the solution phase to post-processing.

Specifically, VECTIS includes:

  • Geometry preparation and mesh setup tools
  • Tools for Cartesian, Tetrahedral and Polyhedral meshing
  • Extensive database for materials and detailed chemical mechanisms
  • Structured and unstructured flow solver
  • Post-processing tools for visualising 3D and integrated data

How it works

VECTIS solves the 3D form of the Navier-Stokes equations using the finite volume method. It simulates the transport of mass, momentum, energy and other physical phenomena. It is capable of simulating steady and unsteady incompressible and compressible laminar and turbulent flows.

The unstructured solver can accept any type of computational mesh. Additionally, it can solve implicitly across several fluid and solid domains at the same time making it ideal for advanced conjugate heat transfer (CHT) applications.

The particular advantage of VECTIS resides in its suitability for simulating combustion:

  • It’s Arbitrary Dynamic Mesh Cut-Cell (ADMC) technology allows VECTIS to handle arbitrary boundary motion with any type of mesh type including Polyhedral meshes with boundary layers
    • Static and Dynamic Zones make it possible to simulate four- and two-stroke engines and rotary engines
  • It has advanced physical models including:
    • advanced RANS and LES turbulence models
    • advanced spray and wall-film models
    • supports single fuels, multiple fuels or multi-component fuels
    • tabulated kinetics based on either equilibrium or finite-rate chemistry
    • laminar flame speed and auto-ignition probability models based on correlations as well detailed kinetics
    • various spark models
    • post combustion emissions models for NOx and Soot
    • turbulent combustion models
  • VECTIS comes with user-definable point, surface, zone and volume sensors for computing statistics of a wide selection of variables pertinent to combustion analysis
